Those White Spots: The aft end shows the result of the boat bouncing off some rocks at a rugged put in this summer. The impacts caused internal delaminations of the layup making the white color. Two have slight fractures in the outer layer which were sealed with epoxy, and the rest are benign. Yup, it's a used boat.

Repairs

Over many hours of use, a common issue with Thunderbolts is the forward edges of the hung seat wear partially through the layup. This goes unnoticed unless one removes the seat. This was repaired with epoxy and 2 layers of carbon/kevlar cloth as shown.

Early construction employed a rudder post block made of white pine, located inside the hull under the deck access cover. This block may work loose over time, particularly if the rudder hit submerged objects (not an uncommon occurrence). An unknown leak is the symptom. In 2008 the block was popped out, cleaned up, and glued back in place with a liberal amount of epoxy.
